I realise that I never had to test the alarm after a battery change because whenever I pressed a button there will be a 'beep' sound which actually indicates the sound is working. My question is, is there any way to mute this beep sound as it can be inconvenient in some situations (eg. movies, meeting, etc). Could try changing the battery. Just make sure if you do look up a good guide as most gshocks have a reset procedure that involves touching some contact point to the battery. Now it's been in direct sunlight for approx. 10 hours, and it still flashes "CHG" in the right subdial. The manual states that it should only take around 3 hours of charging before reaching level 3.
